BIAZA Conservation Conference at Yorkshire Wildlife Park (YWP) from 20th to 22nd October 2025.

This will be a one day event hosted by the Wildwood Trust, building upon the topics covered at the 2024 workshop. We will cover updates in husbandry and research, as well the theory of reintroductions and nest surveying. The day will include a trip to a nearby site for practical training in nest surveying techniques.

We are excited to announce that the 2025 BIAZA Plant Working Group conference will take place at Welsh Mountain Zoo from 23 - 25 September 2025. There will be an icebreaker on the evening of 22 September.
The theme for Day 1 is Plant Conservation & Nature Recovery. In the afternoon there will be a guided tour of Welsh Mountain Zoo, followed by the conference dinner in the evening.
The theme for day two is Theatre of Gardening. In the afternoon we will visit the National Trust’s celebrated Bodnant Garden.
Day 3 consists of a practical workshop on making wildlife features that can be incorporated into zoo landscapes.

The Primate and Small Mammal Subgroups are delighted to be joining forces to bring you the BIAZA Nocturnal Mammal Workshop hosted by ZSL London Zoo in November.
Save the date and keep your eyes peeled for more information coming soon! Registration will be at 9:00am for a 9:30am start and the workshop will finish at 3:45pm.

- Keynote speakers will explore the theme of questioning within conservation education, offering thought-provoking insights and perspectives.
- The conference will feature a combination of presentations and interactive workshops, providing a varied and engaging programme.
- Attendees will have opportunities to network with fellow conservation educators from across the sector.
- Morning pastries, refreshments, and cold buffet lunches will be provided to all delegates throughout the day.
- Delegates will also have the chance to share the wonder of wildlife at Hertfordshire Zoo, with an optional fourth day visit to the Big Cat Sanctuary, offering a unique and memorable experience.
- The Conservation Education Committee are currently discussing options for hopefully providing some travel bursaries to support members to attend this event. Keep an eye out for more information on this soon.

We hope this will include welcome talks from senior staff at Yorkshire Wildlife Park, talks on the award-winning animal rescue from Big Cat Sanctuary, maximising media coverage for small zoos from Tortoise Media, a special digital marketing workshop from Navigate, avoiding the perils of green-washing, and much more!
Social: There will be plenty of opportunity for meeting colleagues from across the sector, including a welcome event on November 4th, an opportunity to explore the Wildlife Park and an evening pizza party on November 5th.

The Hex Wildlife Hotel is conveniently accessible from the A1 and M1 via the M18. Exit the M18 at Junction 3, follow signs for the airport, and then proceed along Great Yorkshire Way (A6182) to the second roundabout. Turn onto Hurst Lane, cross the railway bridge, and follow the signs to Hex Wildlife Hotel parking. Accessible parking is available.
Parking: if staying at the hotel please use the hotel parking space – you will need to register your car at reception. For day visitors attending the conference please use Car Park 6 to avoid fines!
